I don't know why, but when you spoke of leaning on a door assumed to be locked freely opening, I was brought to tears.

it happened to me once in my apartment in Belgium. I would travel a lot leaving all kinds of valuables. One day I locked my keys in, and pondering what to do, leaned on the door...and it popped open. The place was never really secure, but I thought it was.

Goodness. I don't know which would be worse, the door opening thinking it shouldn't, or assuming it wouldn't when wishing it would. Of course, in thought of applying either to an emotional scenario, real or imagined.
