For you, who enjoys a good joke—have you ever considered that the name of the faux 13th sign, Ophiuchus can also be phonetically pronounced as ‘oh-fuck-us? tee-hee🤭
A greater issue is the negative effect on general audience acceptance when scientific discussions are intermingled with discussions of personal beliefs. My guess is more people would accept scientific information such as the lack of scientific evidence of "climate change," and of "viruses," and the scientific evidence that buildings were intentionally destroyed, if that scientific information were not intertwined with aspects of personal belief. Drs. Bailey excel at limiting their discussion to the scientific facts of their particular topic, whereas the validity of similar discussions by most others is negatively affected when diluted by personal beliefs, no matter whether one agrees with those beliefs or not.
I like your posts, Eric. I don't always agree with some statements, but overall, I like the cut of your jib.
My parents were amateur astrologers and my dad was president of the San Jose Astrological Society back in the early to mid 1980s. Supposedly I have the Moon, Sun, Mars, Mercury & Saturn in the House of Aquarius. Scorpio rising.
My problem with astrology is connected to the question of, "When does mortal life begin? At conception when the sperm pierces the egg? Or when the baby takes its first breath?"
My best guess is that mortal life begins at conception -- and therefore, an astrology chart should start at that date -- and yet, that's pretty damn hard to pin down...
Have you experimented with drawing up your own chart based on an approximation of when you were conceived to see if THAT chart is as meaningful to you as your "first breath" chart?
By my reckoning, I believe we are as conscious at conception and during the entire gestation period as we are today. We are eternal thinking-feeling entities and we are never truly unconscious. I believe we were aware of being a zygote and a morula and all the rest. I remember having nightmares as a child where my head & face were being squeezed in a type of pinkish mud tunnel...and it was only as an adult that I realized I was remembering the birthing process. The doc had to use tongs to pull me out of the birth canal.
I'm not trying to cause trouble nor cast aspersions upon astrology. My question above is sincere.
Astrology concerns itself with what can be timed accurately. It is not only difficult but impossible to pin down the time of conception.
Were a couple to come to me and say, "We now we got pregnant because Joe had an orgasm into me at 4:35 am on March 5 and we didn't have any other sex at any time around then," I would cast the chart. But nobody does that.
But since conception happens in the dark all the way in the back of a cave where you cannot go, and can take anywhere from an hour to three days and nobody knows when it occurred, the ejaculation chart would only be an approximate conception chart — but a valid chart as a "point of no return."
The birth chart is not the "when life begins" chart but rather the transition into autonomous bodily existence. It is a point of arrival. Astrology concerns itself with symbols, cycles, and honest reads of the chart. It's about divination and not scientific proof. But the timing, for a helpful chart, must be documented.
There are a number of ways to handle the prenatal epoch. I am pretty sure I was conceived on my parents' wedding night. I have studied their wedding chart carefully.
Other approaches are to use the eclipses of the Moon and the Sun that happened before birth. This is the most commonly used (but not often, at that) and these charts are revealing. Conditions during the pregnancy can be seen in the progressions and transits to the birth chart, prior to birth (progressions can go backwards in time as well as forward).
The question is, what are you trying to find out? For many questions, the time of the mailman delivering a letter with the question is as useful as the natal chart, or more so.
I have “spoken” Western Tropical Archetypal astrology since 1985, yet never understood fully the difference between tropical and sidereal until you just explained it so clearly. Thank you🙏
the zodiacs are about 23 degrees apart, so for ex, anything at 23 tropical Pisces or less ends up in sidereal Aquarius. The real intrigue is looking at that 'new' chart as a kind of hidden layer; you get a whole new message...all the patterns stay the same; only the degrees change.
I take extreme umbrage with arrogant statements in the vicinity of telling you that your << destiny is extremely difficult >> that come from astrologers who think they know more than they know. I am happy you're doing well, though I think these statements are arrogant and dangerous and are in the category of what I call "turning someone against themself."

consider that joke stolen, Anaella :-)
What a great read Eric! My brain just got a wee bit clearer on these topics. Sending my appreciation, Denisa

Thank you for that.
This is an interesting book:

James Braha read my Jyotish chart and the central elements which hit me were:
Regarding my obliterated tropical AC (23 Capricorn)
and obliterated tropical Moon (23 Aquarius) my destiny is extremely difficult (get these crucial gemstones)
Regarding my tropical 20 Gemini stationary direct Mercury:
That’s the only reason you’re getting this reading.
Yikes.
But I’m doing WAY better than merely surviving. I’m experiencing miracles and evermore profound joy and gratitude and love every day.

Thanks, Eric. That was a turbo boost for my middle finder salute to that inflated jackass.
He recently published...The Braha Sutra.
